Before approving your home floor plan: 5 checks that prevent changes after construction
A villa plan can look perfect on paper, then after construction you find the majlis door opens onto a private area, or the sofa blocks the walkway. A good plan doesn't just place rooms; it tests family movement, privacy, light, furniture and future change.

Check these five points
- Movement: trace the path from the entrance to the majlis, kitchen and bedrooms. Do guests cross private areas?
- Real furniture: draw the bed, table and sofa sizes on the plan, with room to open drawers and doors.
- Light and heat: mark which way the windows face and whether direct sun needs shading; orientation affects comfort and air-conditioning use.
- Services: check air-conditioning, drainage and electrical points before walls and ceilings are fixed.
- The future: can the study become a bedroom? Does the layout suit older people and children?
A simple test before you sign off
Print the plan at a clear scale and write on each room who will use it, when, and what pieces it needs. Any space without a convincing use deserves another look.
Ask for a review of the space and furniture layout, not just a nice 3D image.
