Saudi majlis lighting: three layers that make a clear difference

1. General light

It comes from ceiling fittings or evenly spread concealed light. Don't aim strong spotlights straight at the seating, and split switching into groups instead of one switch for everything.

2. Task light

Add soft light by a reading corner or side table, without making that area much brighter than the rest of the room, which tires the eyes.

3. Accent light

Use directional light to show off a stone finish, an artwork or a wall detail. Highlighting one or two features is calmer and more elegant than lighting every wall.

Before buying fittings, test the scene at night: can guests see people and food easily? Is there an annoying reflection on the TV or glossy surfaces? Ask for a lighting plan showing every fitting and its circuit before the ceiling is built.
