Motion graphics or live-action video? Choose by message, not trend
A company may ask for a motion graphics video because it liked an ad, when what it really needs is a client interview or product footage. If you're explaining something invisible or the steps of a service, animation helps; if trust depends on real people or a real product, filming is usually more convincing, and the two can be combined.

The short answer
| Goal | Usually best | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Explaining an app or complex service | Motion graphics | Simplifies steps and abstract ideas | |
| Showing a product's texture or a place | Live action | Shows the real thing and its details | |
| An employee story or client testimonial | Live action | Carries the person's presence and voice | |
| Figures and results over footage | A mix of both | Combines credibility with clarity |
A test before writing the script
Write one sentence: 'After watching, the client should understand ____ and take the step ____.' If you can't finish it, choosing a style won't fix the problem. Then decide where it will play, a service page, an exhibition screen or a short ad, because size, voice-over and pace change with it.
