Interior door sizes: how to measure before you order
You can receive a door in the size you asked for and find it scrapes the floor or won't fit the opening. Usually the cause is mixing up the wall opening, the door leaf size and the outer frame size. Measuring the wall opening alone isn't enough.

Measuring checklist
- Width: measure the top, middle and bottom of the opening and note the smallest for the installer.
- Height: measure from the finished floor level, not the slab before tiling.
- Wall thickness: after plaster and any cladding, to set the frame depth.
- Swing: photograph the opening and mark the hinge side and door path so it doesn't hit furniture.
- Location: is it a wet bathroom or a dry room? That decides the material, frame and hardware.
Don't subtract installation clearances yourself; every door and frame system has its own. Send the measurements and photos so the final production size can be confirmed, ideally with a site visit before manufacturing.
