Exhibition booth design: 5 mistakes that stop visitors stopping
A booth can be big and luxurious, yet visitors walk past without understanding the business. A successful booth shows within seconds who you serve, what you're showing and what to do next; looks alone aren't enough. Before designing the front, walk through the visitor's journey.

Five easy-to-avoid mistakes
- A vague message: 'innovative solutions for the future' says nothing. Write a specific service or benefit, readable from the aisle.
- A closed entrance: a huge reception desk can become a barrier. Keep a clear, open way in.
- Screens without a story: a long video with sound nobody can hear won't explain anything. Use short clips with text that works on mute.
- Poor lighting: glare on products or reflections on screens weaken the display. Test the lighting from the walkway.
- No follow-up: a QR code with no clear destination loses enquiries. Set up an easy way to collect contact requests with the visitor's consent.
Before building, ask for a plan showing the entry flow, display, meeting and storage areas and power supply, and check the organiser's rules, safety requirements and height limits.
